HEART HEALTH AND MENOPAUSE














During menopause, the body finds it hard to break down cholesterol .


Cholesterol

  • Type of fat in our bodies

  • Builds cells, digest food and makes hormones.

  • High Cholesterol can cause serious problems in our blood ,like clots, brain and heart issues.

It's important to eat well and include the following to help reduce cholesterol.


2 portions of fish (1 being oily)

  • Rich in Omega 3

  • Reduces Bad cholesterol and increases good

  • Linseed

  • Seaweed

  • Fish Oil Supplements

Wholegrains

  • Fibre

  • Grabs hold of the bad cholesterol

Pulses/Nuts & Seeds

  • Good fats (HDL)

Plant Based food

  • Good for hot flushes

  • Contains estrogen

Soya based

  • Contains estrogen

THEREFORE

  • Increase calcium

  • Change what and when you eat carbs

  • Increase Vitamin D

  • Oily fish -omega 3

  • Less alcohol, fat and sugars

  • Increase good protein intake
